AUGUST 2020 TOPIC & QUESTIONS:

Space & Confidence: Making Space for the Body, Mind & Soul

 

What is on everyone's mind as the transition to school/work?

  • New definitions of safety and space.  

  • Staying safe while transitioning back to the office....

  • NOT transitioning... and the uncertainty of relocating from professional space for much longer than anticipated.

  • Alleviating common stress factors (e.g., excessive screen time, distractions, etc.) that result from the new norm.

  • Creating a new, more permanent workspace at home with an aesthetic that is functional and will last.

  • Related Overview: Historical considerations about the efficacy of online vs. face-to-face interaction.

PART I: BODY -- Health & Safety Precautions 

  • Is it safe to return to work and/or school?

  • If I can't work from home, how can I to stay safe in public workspaces, classrooms, etc.?

  • A supplementary COVID Resource Center (prepared by Philo4Thought in collaboration with the C.D.C., W.H.O. and members of the Columbia University research community)

PART II: MIND -- Creating a Positive, Confident Mindset

  • Easing anxiety by staying organized and allowing sufficient mental space to complete daily and weekly tasks.

  • Setting up a designated work space at home that makes you feel comfortable & confident.

  • How do I stay organized and distraction-free while working at home?

  • How can a good spatial design boost my productivity?

PART III (PANEL): SOUL -- Designing a Space that Inspires & Empowers

  • What are the most functional designs or tools to incorporate into a new workspace?

  • How can I adjust a temporary workspace to an inspiring permanent home office?

  • Can I create a space that reflects my unique aesthetic but still looks clean and professional?

  • How can I "stage" my workspace to make a positive impression during video presentations & interviews?
